| Fishing this week was still kind of slow with a few planters showing up here and there and 3 Alpers. Is it the warm temps, full moon, who knows. What we do know is that when it turns, watch out - fishing`s going to be awesome! |
| Drift fishing is where it`s at - casting your line out as far as you can with a NightCrawler or PowerBait on the hook, turning the motor off, enjoying the peace and quiet and drifting - the best place has been between the points (between the two natural lakes over the shoreline of those natural lakes). Salmon Eggs were working at the Dingleberry Inlet. Trolling flashers and a worm got a few fish and the shore anglers were fishing with PowerBait or NightCrawlers. |
| Father and son team Lee and Scott Lulovics of West Hills got the hang of drift fishing - Scott getting a nice 4-pound Alper on PowerBait with quite a few for appetizers. Tom Trisdale of Corona picked up a 3-1/2 pound Alper on a Red PowerWorm (Yes, we have PowerWorms, now). Dad Michael Chew with sons Joshua and Kyle of Orange experienced their first camping and fishing trip with Kyle catching his first fish - Good going, guys! |
| As you probably noticed, most the snow is gone from the upper peaks, so the snow run-off is pretty much done and the utility companies still need water to make electricity and for irrigation, so the lake is on its way down - so far we are down about 6 feet. Temperatures are still in the mid 70s for the highs and we`re fluctuating between the high 40s and low 50s for the lows. Remember, the campgrounds tend to be a bit on the cooler side during the evening hours. Still haven`t had a chance to listen to Howard`s weather report, hopefully, it will just stay about the same - absolutely magnificent! You may want to check it out Howard's forecast at www.MammothWeather.com to see what he thinks might happen. |
| Rick was finally able to get Lo his haircut - he`s so proud of himself again - Lo that is NOT Rick. Some people think he`s got some disease that his hair grows that way. It`s just Rick being creative. Hi`s not doing much of anything except standing in the lake trying to catch sucker fry, fingerlings or an actual Rainbow. Nimrod is definitely living up to his name - Great and Mighty Hunter - as he has a “snack” every night before bed - a varmint snack that is! |
| This is Nick`s last week with us. He`s going back to the Land of Oz to finish up his degree in Finance/Psychology. He was a great asset to us this season and we wish him well. We just wish he wasn`t leaving us so soon. We still have a third of the season left. |
| Remember your sunscreen, dark glasses and bug juice as we still have a few of those pesky skeeters around. PONCHOS MAY ALSO BE NEEDED THIS WEEKEND - YOU NEVER KNOW! |
| ALWAYS PACK A JACKET! ! ! ! |
| REMEMBER, IF YOU PUT ON BUG JUICE, SUN SCREEN OR FOO FOO JUICE, WASH YOUR HANDS! THEN RUB THEM IN WORM GOO, TROUT ATTRACTANT OR POWERBAIT - GET THE OTHER SCENT OFF! |
| Once again, the BISHOP AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE and VISITORS BUREAU is operating the BISHOP CREEK CANYON FALL CLASSIC thanks to another grant from INYO COUNTY.
