About Us
Originally from Orange County California, the Smiths purchased Parchers Resort & South Lake Landing in 2006. During their first 16 seasons on the mountain they made major improvements to both the facilities and the services offered to their guests, reestablishing Parchers Resort & South Lake Bishop as premier destinations for hiking, trout fishing, photography, and backpacking in the Eastern Sierra.
In 2022 the Smith family renewed their commitment to their beloved Bishop Creek Canyon by adding Lake Sabrina Boat Landing to the Parchers Resort family. With much gratitude and appreciation, the Smiths are thrilled to begin this new chapter in their High Sierra adventure.

Judy & Steve Smith - Having hiked across the High Sierra backcountry from Cottonwood to Yosemite, this well-traveled couple has looked to the mountains as their refuge from the hustle & bustle of city life for the past 50 years. Originally professional musicians, Steve & Judy switched gears as their family grew and together built Smith Chiropractic, a successful Chiropractic business in Buena Park, CA. Proud parents of five children and a golden retriever, Steven & Judy are passionate about the outdoors and their passions include hiking, fishing, songwriting, backpacking and of course their family. They are committed to making sure guests have the best experience possible at Parchers, South Lake and Lake Sabrina.
Jared "Smitty" Smith - An avid hiker, angler, photographer, musician, fishing guide and author of two books on backcountry wild trout fishing (Fishin’ Trails 1 & 2), Jared has lived for the great outdoors his entire life. While he's constantly chasing the catch of a lifetime in both fresh & salt water, his heart has always been in the pristine lakes & streams of the High Sierra. As General Manager and co-owner, he provides resort guests and area visitors with a tremendous outdoor experience. Jared is also the founder and co-owner of Sierra Slammers Custom Baits & Lassen Tackle in Susanville, Ca. Seth Blackamore- One of the most addicted fly fisherman I know and a very gifted athlete and photographer. Seth has hiked and fished all over the Eastern Sierra and co-wrote the book Fishin' Trails 2 with Jared back in 2016. When he isn't out fishing, hiking, hunting or relaxing in baja, he remains a loyal team member and a great leader who spends his work days as our marina and facilities manager. Which is a fancy way of saying he oversees South Lake and Lake Sabrina and keeps the facilities running smoothly at Parchers. Follow his travels and angling adventures on Seth's Instagram.
